In celebration of VDC, our first fan-designed MIMOBOT series, we’re delving deeper into your ever-creative talents with the new VDC Call for Content Contest! We want YOU to send us your digital media creations, be they music, animations, video shorts, or flash games! We'll pick our favorites and immortalize them as content on the 6 MIMOBOT characters from the VDC MIMOBOT Series - Cosmobot, Golden Panda, Holybot, Mimoshroom, Yakuza, and Zombie Tiki God. We can't wait to bring you what we feel is our strongest collaborative effort yet – a collaboration with all of you! So here's your chance to join VDC MIMOBOT Series artists bananafromcanada, eetteekers, The Ficklians, Gutluss Wonder, Lindsay Podd, and Shan Dur Rah with the VDC Call for Content Contest! Amazing Pictoplasma NYC conference!Pictoplasma NYC conference on contemporary character design and art / 5-6 September, New York Away from its usual home in Berlin, the Pictoplasma Conference is about to touch down in the heart of Manhattan. On September 5 and 6 the Skirball Center for the Performing Arts at NYU will serve as the gathering place for a diverse crowd of artists, designers, animators, producers and fans who will freely exchange ideas about anything and everything related to character design. The diverse lineup of speakers hails from around the globe, covering a wide range of media, artistic ideas and inspirational sources, with lectures by Tim Biskup (US), Akinori Oishi (JP), Friends With You (USA), Motomichi Nakamura (JP/US), Fons Schiedon (NL), David OReilly (IRL), Gangpol & Mit (FR), Aaron Stewart (US), Studio AKA (UK) and Tokyoplastic (UK). Besides a back-to-back program of presentations, parties and panels, this year's animation screenings promise to further explore how graphical characters previously not associated with the industry are now taking the medium by storm, including work by Marc Craste, Yves Geleyn, Daniel Garcia, Passion Pictures, Rex Crowl, Wieden + Kennedy, Buck, Nathan Jurevicius and more... http://www.pictoplasma.com/nyc
August 06, 2008SDCC aftermathWe're baaaaaaaaack!!! It has been quite a trade show mayhem this past month. With half the Mimoco staff in Japan and Taiwan, while the rest of us were in California! We're happy to be back to planet blooh's number one earth outpost! Thank you to all those who stopped by the MIMOBOT booths at San Diego Comic Con!! Special thanks to Sucklord and Gary Baseman!! Also those who participated in one or all Star Wars costume contest, scavenger hunt, or halo trivia contest! We had tons of fun! Enjoy the pics! And the FINAL Star Wars MIMOBOT Series 3 Character is...
This is the one you've been waiting for! Everyone's favorite protocol droid, fluent in over six million forms of communication and the long-suffering companion of one R2-D2 -C-3PO is the fourth and final character in the Star Wars MIMOBOT Series 3 collection! As was reported on the Wired Blog Network, C-3PO is making his debut July 23rd at this summer's San Diego Comic Convention along with our other Star Wars MIMOBOT Series 3 characters: Darth Sidious, Wicket and the Emperor's Royal Guard. C-3PO MIMOBOT is ready to serve all of your data storing needs, and like his movie counterpart this MIMOBOT droid is up for most any adventure, albeit unwillingly - travel ready and decked out in his sleek, shiny chrome gold finish! This marks the end of the Star Wars MIMOBOT Guessing Game. Thanks to all of the dedicated fans who submitted their guesses on our forums -we've had a truly wonderful time playing with you!
